I completed my Instrument Rating Airplane with Cole Norton. During the oral, Cole was very professional and understanding. He did not make the oral portion more stressful due to his calm manner of questioning. Working with Cole to schedule the checkride was efficient because he worked with my instructor and I to get something in the books as soon as possible. Cole demonstrated professionalism throughout the entire checkride, creating a comfortable environment, and upholding me to strict standards. Another reason why I recommend Cole is because of the professionalism he showed during the oral portion of the test. He attempted to break the ice and make me feel less nervous. During the oral, I needed a moment to look something up. He was very understanding and gave me just a second to find exactly what I was trying to find. Cole didn’t only hold the oral portion to a high professional standard, but also inside the cockpit of the airplane during the flying portion of the checkride. I thought it was professional to have my DPE give me a brief rundown of what we needed to complete. I recommend Cole as a DPE and I would be comfortable doing my commercial checkride with him. In February I completed the Commercial Multi-Engine checkride with Mr. Norton. He gathered all my information in advance and arrived on time. He showed integrity, professionalism, and diplomacy throughout the entire process. He was thorough during the oral, preflight, and flight. Cole was easy to work with to schedule the exam and provided me with adequate communication leading up to the day of the practical. Upon arriving at the airport, Cole greeted me at the FBO with a friendly attitude, which eased my nerves and allowed me to feel comfortable during the exam. I feel Cole conducted a thorough examination and was very knowledgeable with the type of practical and Seneca used for the exam. I was very satisfied with the way that the practical was conducted, at the completion, Cole provided an in-depth debrief that was honest and candid. Furthermore, one ofprivate pilot applicants scheduled his examination with Cole. Both my student and I were again pleased with the scheduling, preparation, and the manner in which the practical was conducted. At the completion of the practical, Cole personally called me to provide a de-brief. I find this very valuable in helping to train and prepare students to obtain certificates and be knowledgeable pilots.

I took my Sport Pilot Checkride with DPE Cole Norton at the Marion, IA airport. Mr. Norton was very professional. Numerous times we had to reschedule the checkride due to weather, family, or work issues. He was always very understanding and willing to be flexible to make it happen. During the checkride he went above and beyond to make sure I felt very comfortable even though I was very nervous. Mr. Norton made sure that I was aware of the expectations during each phase of the examination as per the practical test standards. I never felt as though I was in the dark or had to guess as to what I should be doing. Once my exam was complete Mr. Norton and I debriefed the exam, which I greatly appreciated. Mr. Norton was very knowledgeable and I greatly appreciate the effort he put in to assist me on my dream of flying.
