COLE NORTON

FAA PILOT EXAMINER
DESIGNATED BY THE FAA - DES MOINES FSDO

GETTING STARTED TOWARDS YOUR CHECK RIDE WITH ME!

REVIEW YOUR OPTIONS

Discuss with your certified flight instructor which examiner would be a good fit for your check ride based on the type of check ride, location, availability, fee, and aircraft type. I would be happy to work with you if it is a check ride I am authorized to conduct and it can be completed safely, legally, and according to FAA policy. You are putting your trust in me to provide a fair, thorough examination, and issue an approval or disapproval of your application.Ultimately it is up to you to bring your application to an examiner of your choice.

READ ABOUT ME, POLICES, AND FAQs

Designees have common policy to follow, however, fee, schedule, and communication policies vary between DPEs. It is completely voluntary to work with me as an examiner.  I want you to know as much as possible before reaching out so you can ask more informed questions.

GET IN CONTACT

When approaching to schedule make sure your initial communication includes your name, certificate number, flight instructor name and certificate number, type of check ride, and aircraft type. It also helps to mention right away if it is a re-test or continued from a discontinued check ride and any time constrains such as an expiring written test. Be prepared to list several dates that you are available. You date is not locked in until you complete the next step.

CHOOSE SCENARIO, COMPLETE CHECKLIST, AND SUBMIT DOCUMENTS

On the appropriate check ride page, you will see how the ground portion will revolve around a pre-determined scenario. I will ask you to review my common error checklist and complete a proof of eligibility form at least 7 days prior to the check ride to hold your spot on my schedule. Lastly, print my day-of check ride checklist so you don't forget anything.

ABOUT

I'm a DPE located in Eastern Iowa, designated by the FAA, Des Moines FSDO. Being from Iowa and learning to fly in this area means I'm thankful to be a part of the airmen certification process and safety of aviation in our region.

Although certified as an airline transport pilot, general aviation is my passion, hobby, and career. By earning multiple instructor certificates and ratings across many categories and classes of aircraft, experience flying charter, and owning a flight school, I have been able to reach my goal of being an expert in this field. I am authorized to conduct Sport, Private, Instrument, and Commercial check rides in single and multi-engine airplanes.

TESTING LOCATIONS
